FAQ
Questions
Practical answers about the tea, the brew, shipping, and returns.
What is a blooming tea?
A hand-tied bundle of pan-fired green tea and edible flowers. In hot water the leaves loosen and the flower opens in the glass. It is also called flowering tea.
How much tea is in one piece?
Each bloom weighs 7–10 grams. You are buying one hand-tied piece, enough for a single glass and three or four steeps.
How do I brew it?
Warm a clear glass, add one whole bloom, and pour water at 85–95°C. Steep for 3–5 minutes. The full sequence is on the ritual page.
How many times can I resteep it?
Three or four times is typical. Add hot water again and give each later steep a little longer. Stop when the liquor tastes thin.
Where is it grown?
On the Zheng family farm in Fu'an, Fujian, China. The blooms are tied there by hand and shipped directly.
Does it contain caffeine?
Yes. The base is pan-fired green tea, which contains caffeine. We do not publish a milligram figure, because it varies with the steep.
Are the flowers edible?
Yes. Jasmine, lily, globe amaranth, pot marigold, and carnation are tied into the tea as edible flowers, not as a flavoring added later.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Shipping is included and usually takes 10–15 business days. Orders leave within 1–3 business days of payment.
Is there a minimum order?
Yes. Orders start at $50. Standard shipping is included and usually takes 10–15 business days.
How do I pay?
Checkout is PayPal. You can pay with a PayPal balance or a card on PayPal’s own page. We do not store card numbers.
Can I return a tea?
Unopened tea can be returned within 14 days of delivery. Because this is food, opened or brewed pieces cannot come back. Damaged or incorrect orders are replaced.
How should I store it?
In a sealed tin, away from sunlight, steam, coffee, and spices. Do not refrigerate the dry blooms. Humidity is what spoils them.
